Pachamama

from $172.00

Nature's artistry knows no bounds. In the depths of the ocean, a humble salp forms a tribute to Pachamama, embodying the interconnectedness of all life. This remarkable fusion of earthly and aquatic beauty reminds us that our planet is a masterpiece of harmony.

I photographed this in the Sea of Cortez. I was in the water waiting for the boat to pick us up after an orca encounter. The ocean was filled with jellyfish and salps, all feeding on plankton in the water column. I looked down and saw the salps formed up in the pachamama position. Excitedly, I dropped down to snap a few images before they changed shape.
